When Plymouth Church munificently rewarded a man who could not, after a six months’ trial, be found innocent of adultery, the enme of which Beecher was accused became the crime of the church as well as of Beecher. A member of the church might fall from grace under sore temptation and the great cause of the Christian reli-gion suffer no harm. But when a vast Christian organization endorses adultery and perjury, and pays a premium of a hundred thousand dollars or such a matter for those offences the Christian religion suf-fers an irreparable injury. The Beecher case has passed be-yond Beecher. It now covers more than Plymouth Church. It reaches to the Congregational churches of the country, and especially affects the standing of the Congregational churches of Brooklyn and New York. They, if inactive, appear as parties to the endorsement of Beecher’s crime, or at least arc covered with the suspicion of evil. The action of Plymouth Church in dropping, or attempting to drop, the name of Mrs. Moulton from membership is most singular. She or Beecher is guilty of perjury. But this charge is not brought against her. She is only charged with absence. She answers that she is absent because the pastor of Plymouth Church is an adulterer and a perjurer, and she properly denies the right of a Christian Con-gregational church to practically expel a member for absence on such grounds. Plymouth Church should expel its pastor or Mrs. Moulton for per-jury. It dare not attempt to expel Mrs. Moulton on that ground. It will not expel Beecher. Now, if the Congregational Churches do not expel Plymouth Church they be-come as a denomination either the advocates of adultry or of perjury. The Choctaw iTKarrlatfe Law. NEATLY EXECUTED AT GALVESTON PRICES EXAMINER JOB OFFICE. The civilized Indians of the Na-tion are getting tired of the facil-ity w ith which white men have heretofore been galvanized into copper-colored denizens of that sovereign commonwealth, and new forms have been imposed on the marriage ceremony, under which the white man became as good as an Indian ; The new Choctaw marriage law requires a white man, who designs marrying a Choctaw citizen, to ob-tain a license from a circuit clerk or Judge, or to make oath or other satisfactory showing before them, that he has no living wife, from whom he is not legally divorced ; and to present to the clerk or judge a certificate of good, moral charac-ter, signed by at least ten respect-able citizens, who shall have been acquainted with him at least twelve months immediately preceding the signing of such certificate. It also requires him to take an oath to sup-port the constitution of the Choc-taw Nation. tt is further stipulated that a white man or white woman, marry-ing in compliance with tins law, shall be citizens of the Chootaw Nation, even aifter being a widow, or widower, provided they do not many a citizen of the States, in which event they their rights of citizenship. United lose all Accident to Pauline Lucca. (From the Evening Post.] Madame T.ucca, having been en-gaged for a series of six opera per-formances at the Royal Theatre de laMonaieat Bntssells, left her country, swat; at Goldenberg, in Switzerland, on the ‘27tli of Octo-her, intending to drive to the rail-way station at Zurich. The horses, becoming frightened by the way, became unmanageable, and dashed at a rapid pace toward the lake, near which the carriage was over-turned and Madame Lucca thrown out. She sustained several bruises, and was taken to a hotel near by, where her injuries, it is said, will detain her for a" period of six weeks. Her husband, who was with her es-caped unhurt. CONSTANCY. ■ Down through the orchard wandered ■Where, bending low, each burdened tree Huugfufrbf fruitage yellow. ’Twas morning, and the autumn sun Shone on the leaves of gold and dun With a radiance soft and mellow. There came a blush upon her cheek, I thought my time had come to speak, She seemed So sad and tender; I touched her snowy, dimpled hand. But found no words at my iommind. My burning love to render. At last we paused beneath a tree; ' Tne branch that sheltered her and me Reached low Its luscious fruit: “Be seated, pray,” I gently plead, “I cannot—cannot,” soft she said, “I’m In my walking suit.”* ** Job it Wilke’s Booth’s Sweetheart. Celia Logan writes from New York to the Hartford Courant: “There is a lady in this city who. was once engaged to be married to John Wilkes Booth, but broke off the match and requested the return of her letters, which he refused. Her story goes that she never heard directly from him again, until two years after Ins reported death, when a man called at her house at (Jusk. She opened the door her-self; he handed her a sealed pack-age and disappeared. On opening it she discovered her own old love-letters to Bootli and a line unrnis-takably in his hand. It was, ‘I return your letters.’ Inside th# letters was a piece of a Cuban^ newspaper. She is a firm ifisbe-’ liever in his death.” TheTtchborne Claimant!. The Tichborne claimant is said to have written as follows from his prison a few weeks ago: “Strange to say, I am still alive, nor is my spirit so broken by past misfortunes as to be intimidated by threats or punishments into denying my name and existence. God in his great goodness has entirely frustrated the evil designs and virulent machina-tions of man, as is evident by my being still alive. * * * Therefore, I may say my heart is comparative- 1 v light, for, knowing, as I do, that 1 have never intentionally injured man, woman, or child, or intention-ally broke any of the just laws of " my country, I feel sure the time is not far distant when our gracious Majesty will no longer refuse to lear the voice of her subjects, es- >ecially when all they ask is that ustice may be done an innocent and injured man.” Strange If True. Mr. Ned Harris, who lives on th* Buchanan and Peaks of Otter turn- ; like, says a correspondent of the ’’incastle; Herald, tejlfiiibis story. He says the night before the freeze, in April last, that he hung several pieces of old iron ir ten of his trees, and that the fruit trees are now loaded with peaches, and he thinks there will not be less than seventy-five bushels. The fruit of the ,re-maining trees, fifteen in number, in the orchard were all killed. A piece of horse shoe was hung in a cherry tree in the orchard, and it was loaded with fruit, whilst in three adjacent treesthe was fruit en tirely killed. He says the idea originated with his mother, and that he, by her instructions, when a boy, had done the same thing fre-quently, with similar results.— Russell ( Vo) Progress. The proprietor of the Uniontown (Ky) Local refuses to receive the amount of subscriptions in wild plums. He says he must draw the line somewhere, and he draws it at wild plums. The Supreme Court of the State of New York has decided that J. C. Ayer & 0o., off Lowell, have the sole right to use the words Cherry Pectoral for a medicine, and has Issued an injunction against. F. V. Rushtou, of New York city, for selling Rushtou’a Cherry Pectoral, or Cherry Pectoral Lozenges, or any other use of the name to deceive the public. This decision of the high court in-eludes all dealers who sell any similar article. —Port Jefferson (X. I.\ Leader. Like to Obtain.—No doubt the public would like to obtain what it requires at aa cheap a rate as possible, aud many times are Induced to purchase the cheapest articles they can ’procure, 'overlooking the fact that al-though professedly the cheapest they are lu reality the dearest In the end. Take Pr. Price’s Cream Baking Powder aud his True Flavoring Extracts, and they may cost a few cents more than the common kind yet they are the cheapest, for they require one-ttiira less in quantity, and when used In cakes, pies, puddings, &c., make them splendid and also wholesome. We have yet to see the house-wtfe that was not satisfied with these articles. As there are powders sold In bulk for Dr. Price’s—which are not his—be sure to get the genuine, put up in cans securely labelled^ and made only by Steele & Price. JOHN C. J'HESE YARDS are located at

the city of* St. Louis and
nearer the Business Centre than any

ah area of 650 acres, of wliioh
100 Acres are Enclosed
for the special business of the yard,
and 60 Acres are under Sheds.
Construbted in the year 1873, improve-inputs
suggested by experience in other
yards, Have'l»ePtl introduced and it is
believed these yards present advauta-ges
for the care of stock, whether in
winter or summer, not offered by any

The stock arriving is unloaded dir-ectly
in the pens and placed imme-diately
on the market.
Buyers from New York, Boston, Chi-cago,
Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville
and other points are permanently lo-cated
at the yards, and shippers can
confidently anticipate an active and
reliable market for all receipts how-eeer
large and for all grades of stock.
Every effort will be made to aavfcbee
the confidence ot shippers in the St,
Louis livestock market which has al-ready,
through the agency of these
frards, become at least the equal of any
ive stock market In the west, and by
shippers concentrating the live stock
trade in this market, it will become the
largest wholesale market in the west
for cattle as it is now the equal of any
fer all other stock.
A first class hotol for the convenience
of its patrons is attached to the yard.
