Summary	Bruno Zajac grew up in the Bremond farmlands and later was named administrator of the family farm after his return from WWII; family background; father’s syrup mill; schooling; military service in Okinawa during WWII and occupation of Japan; returning to father’s farm; buying land; treatment for bleeding ulcers; farming; moving away from cotton as major crop; paying off father’s note on his land; buying cattle; siblings; car accident that injured his arm; meeting wife and her family’s objections to their marriage; going to GI School to learn farming skills like welding; buying first tractor with cash; getting paid for mowing with fresh beef; plowing with mules; tractors and plowing; recollections of riding train from Bremond to basic training in WWII; working one year in California at Alcoa factory; school buildings; making ice cream; his mother sewing with feed sacks; picking cotton and pulling corn; rattlesnake stories; carrying home the caskets of soldiers killed in action as they arrived in Bremond on train; taking part in military funerals; other WWII soldiers from Bremond; seeing Japanese tanks in Saipan; artifacts he kept from the war; former tomato plant in Bremond; story about father shooting a squirrel; dancing halls in Bremond; house dances; country bands in the area.
