WHAT DID THE OFFICIALS REALLY COVER UP?
By Rita Musgrove
Last October when the Oswald exhumation took place, I honed it would put to rest
By doubts about the identity of the body. Like wva^ny other Anerican citizens, I wanted
to believe it was inportant.
The exhunation only serred to increase ny doubts. Because of the strange circun-stances
that surrounded it and the strange happenings I witnessed, the whole episode
proved to be a facade.
If a full scale assassination can take place right in the area of the Dallas Jail,
then who knows what happened to the body of Lee Oswald? If the dead nan was not Oswald,
it would be necessary to nake certain the body had no evidence of foul play or that the
identity of the man was the sane arrested on Novenber 22, 1963.
Since David Lifton's book BEST EVIDENCE presented evidence that the body of President
John F. Kennedy had been altered, absolutely anything could have hapnened to
Oswald. John F. Kennedy was President of the United States, Oswald was a punk who
supposedly nurdered the President. If special consideration was not given the President,
then why should Oswald be given any kind of consideration?
Anything fron switching heads to leaving the coffin enpty, to switching bodies
cai^ have occurred. Perhaps pictures of the corpse should have been run in the local
' ^ ^ r s . That way, we, the public, could have decided who was really buried in the
c^rave of Lee Harvey Oswald,
The nedia and newspaper reporters are the only peonle v*io could have told the
truth. They chose to keep the truth a secret. Almost twnety years later and the truth
is still being kept fron the citizens.
The day of the exhunation arrived, I rushed to Rose Hill Geaetery like nany curious
people, only I really cared who killed John ^» Kennedy, I did not believe the
Warren Commission. I was unsatisfied with the way the entire historical episode had
been handled.
^long with my lack of trust, I felt a loss of democracy with the death of John F.
Kennedy, On the October morning when the body of Lee Harvey Osvrald was being exhumed,
I saw the famous people associated with him. Michael Eddowes stood with his arms folded,
Marina Oswald sat in her car, a veil over her face to conceal her identity. Nothing
could conceal that famous face from me. Eddowes began to pace about waiting for the dig
to be completed. ^11 these legendary figures stood before me. Yet, something seemed
fake about the whole thing. An air of mystery and suspense hung over the ^ole event.
It was as if the whole thing was staged.
I stayed tiotil the body had been reburied and the last of the on-lookers had
gone. I gave my husband orders to drive up and dovm the street until I signaled him
to stoD and pick me up.
I wanted to photograph the site, to perhaps spot some aew evidence. The Kennedy
assassination changed my life. Nothing has been the same since. I studied all the
evidence presented since the time of the murder, I felt it was my duty to seek out
something that might prove a conspiracy.
My refusal to leave became annoying to the one remaining guard. Still, I stood
n^l^-ound. I would get the pictures if it took all night.
r ^ The guard paced around the grave site. I began to notice the excess soil not
needed to cover the grave. A huge mound remained. It looked like enough to cover
several graves. I wondered if Lee Harvey Oswald was in the grave.
The Pinkerton guard came over to the fence where I stood on the other side. He
