ACOUSTIC ANALYSIS CONFIRMED! FBI BAGXS DOWN by Larry Dark«l
G. Robert Blakey and Richard Billings made a two-part appearance on ABC's Good
Morning America last April 2 A 3 to promote their jaet-released book "The Plot To
Kill The President". Both men seemed half asleep (although the interview was taped
on April l) and even apologetic as they ticked off the major conclusions of the
HSCA and their "Mob did it" book.
Startling new information, though, was leaked by Blakey when he stated "There are
two shooters in the Plata." This was no careless simplification - it was advance word
from the National Science Foundation and its forthcoming report on the DPD tape.
While Blakey did not specifically state the NSF conclusions, he did revead some
of the evidence it has received. Here's the transcript as Blakey responded to Jack
Anderson's question about the FBI acoustic reporti
"I have a lot of respect for the Technical Services Division, but
the job they did on us, and that's the only way to describe it, a
hatchet job, was sophomoric. I have shown their work to eminent
scientists that I have respect for, uh, those FBI agents have also
testified privately before the National Science board looking into
it, and those FBI agents have privately apologised. I wish they'd
do it publicly. They privately apologized for blowing their analysis
of what we did. They simply did not understand it and they would
not come to us and talk with us as they developed their analysis to
see if they understood it. It's a national disgrace what they did
and the way they did it."
Notice that Blakey used the word "testify" - that means under oath. He obviously
has first-hand knowledge of the NSF activities and he also has a book that, without
acoustic confirmation, is useful only to a rendering plant. Many researchers know
that the book was finished and ready to be printed by last October, yet the release
date was revised almost monthly for unexplained reasons.
Certainly the appearance of David Lifton's book had some influence on Blakey's
publisher, but I suspect the main reason for the five-month delay was the National
Science Foundation - without four shots there would be no need to publish!
As for the FBI, the retraction of its ludicrous report was inevitable. The
science of acoustics in this electronic age is proving to be a valuable law enforcement
tool. Thanks to broadcast and cable television, live coverage of in-progress
news events has increased tremendously. David Brinkley recently said ten tape and
movie cameras caught the Reagan shooting and aftermath. Police squad cars will
probably have a roof-mounted microphone connected to an indash cassette recorder.
198^ is arriving ahead of schedule.
But who is this Larry Darkel fellow? In their book, Blakey and Billings relate
how Mary Ferrell and Gary Shaw gave Mary's DPD tape to a Larry Darkel for analysis.
What's omitted is his proper name and the reason - Darkel had alreadv Ftudied. a
